Retina Keruzu

  • Client: Felix Stöver - DIBF 2012
  • Launch Project

Some time ago, a very dear friend of mine and colleague in crime when it comes to blacklight art, died suddenly and unexpected. Felix Stöver was his name. His elaborate backdrops rivaled the medieval madness of Hironimus Bosch. Just with the added twist of a lifetime influence of french comic artists and copious amounts of blacklight. To me it felt like he was the opposite side of the blacklight art coin, my opposite and equal in so many ways. His death left me devastated, especially as the information reached me half a year later. For the next two year I did not know what to do with my grief. When the Daegu International Bodypainting Festival, DIBF, in South Korea held a contest with an open theme, I took the opportunity and created a bodypainting in Felix memory. With the help of Hyewon Ahn, we created a piece influenced by a couple of Felix Stöver´s imagery. To him the name Retina Keruzu, held special meaning and I borrowed this one to pay homage to an old friend. I hope he would´ve liked it.
